KONČAR secures contract for HPP Senj modernization
Today, KONČAR Inc. has been awarded a EUR 24.9 million contract by HEP – Proizvodnja Ltd. to modernize the secondary systems of the Senj Hydropower Plant (HPP Senj). This project builds on an earlier contract awarded in 2021 for the replacement of primary equipment, including generating units, generators, turbines, and excitation systems.
Under the new agreement, KONČAR will install advanced secondary equipment, upgrade auxiliary systems, and carry out civil engineering works – enhancements that will improve the plant’s efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance.

Commissioned in November 1965, HE Senj was one of Croatia’s three largest hydropower plants at the time, alongside Zakučac I and Dubrovnik.
This turnkey reconstruction project is a testament to KONČAR Group’s collaborative strength, with multiple companies joining forces to deliver cutting-edge energy solutions. The contract reinforces KONČAR’s leadership in delivering advanced energy infrastructure, accelerating power system modernization, and shaping Croatia’s sustainable energy transition.
