Kaštel Lukšić level crossing commissioned
With the commissioning of the final level crossing, KONČAR successfully completes its 50-site rail safety upgrade across Croatia.
As part of the Sustainable Railways in Croatia and Europe Project, KONČAR d.d. signed a contract in 2019 for the procurement and installation of advanced safety systems at 49 railway-road level crossings and one pedestrian crossing across the country.
The crossings are located primarily on regional and local railway lines, spanning areas such as Zagreb and its surroundings, Karlovac, Sisak, Bjelovar, Krapina-Zagorje, Osijek, Đakovo, Vinkovci, Slavonski Brod, Istria, and Split.

The goal of the project was to enhance railway safety by replacing crossings previously secured only by traffic signs with automated half-barrier systems, along with light and sound signaling equipment.
With 15 upgraded crossings entering operation in 2024, the total number of modernized sites has now reached 49. The commissioning of Kaštel Lukšić Mali in early February 2025 marks the final milestone in this complex, long-term project, significantly improving safety at high-risk railway intersections and enhancing the efficiency of rail transport operations.

The realization of this project was a joint effort, with KONČAR Inc. partnering with several KONČAR Group companies, including Electrical Engineering Institute, KONČAR Electronics and Informatics, and Dalekovod.
