KONČAR has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Croatian company to hold an official meeting with Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing. Held on 15 October 2025 in Brussels, the meeting focused on the upcoming EU Grids Package and strategic priorities for strengthening Europe’s energy infrastructure.

Commissioner Jørgensen commended KONČAR as an impressive company and invited its representatives to share expert insights on the key challenges and potential directions for Europe’s energy transition.

Our delegation was led by Gordan Kolak, President of the Management Board, and Ivan Paić, Member of the Management Board, accompanied by their associates. The meeting was also attended by Anne Katherine Weidenbach, Member of Commissioner Jørgensen’s Cabinet.

During the discussion, we emphasized the urgent need to expand industrial capacities, accelerate investments in the power grid, and boost research and development, alongside reinforcing the physical and cyber security of Europe’s energy systems. The importance of balanced investments across all regions was also highlighted, particularly in Eastern Europe, where grid interconnections remain limited.

Commissioner Jørgensen reaffirmed that grid modernization is among the European Union’s top priorities, announcing €30 billion in investments through the CEF Energy programme, along with the launch of the Green Investment Plan aimed at attracting institutional investors.
