Strategic subcontract finalized for Sarajevska Traction Substation project
On 7 May 2025, we signed a subcontract agreement with Strabag d.o.o. to initiate the delivery of key electrical equipment and the execution of installation works at the Sarajevska Traction Substation. The contract specifies a completion timeline of 12 months.
The works form a key component of Strabag’s contract with the City of Zagreb for the construction of a vital tramway corridor along Sarajevska Road, connecting Dubrovnik Avenue with the Marshalling Yard. Marking the city’s first tram expansion in a quarter-century, the new line will integrate the communities of Travno, Dugave, Hrelić, and Jakuševec into the tram network. The new route will cover 2.25 kilometers and feature eight tram stops and a turnaround loop.

As part of the tramway infrastructure upgrade, the Sarajevska Traction Substation is being constructed to power the overhead contact line system. Strategically located near the intersection of Sarajevska Road and Vatikanska Street, the facility will be a standalone, single-story building covering 66.33 m² of gross space. Structurally organized from the incoming supply to the final load, the Sarajevska Traction Substation will consist of the following main energy subsystems: medium-voltage switchgear, rectifier transformer, rectifier, and DC distribution panels rated at +660 VDC (with four active circuits and one standby) and -660 VDC. The entire configuration will be linked through dedicated busbar and cable connections.
As part of a coordinated delivery framework, our several entities have been mobilized to provide essential equipment and support services. Key contributors include KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics, KONČAR – Distribution and Special Transformers, and KONČAR – Motors and Electrical Systems.
