Modernization agreement secured for sectioning substation Držićeva
We are pleased to announce that, on 29 November 2024, a contract was signed with HŽ Infrastruktura for the refurbishment of the 25 kV Sectioning Substation (PS2) Držićeva. The contract, valued at EUR 968,095.74, reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing Croatia’s electric traction infrastructure.
Building upon our proven record of successful collaboration, this project is expected to be completed within 16 months, delivering modernized facilities to support the region’s growing transportation needs.
Situated along the M102 double-track railway corridor, the PS2 Držićeva substation connects Zagreb Main Station (Zagreb GK) and Dugo Selo at kilometer 425+526. In operation since January 18, 1972, it continues to serve as a key node in Croatia’s railway power network, ensuring seamless energy distribution and system reliability.
The facility comprises a 25 kV installation housed in a two-story building, which is connected to the overhead contact line through four feeder lines. The upper floor accommodates medium-voltage switchgear equipped with primary equipment, while the ground floor contains a medium-voltage bay that houses a power transformer for auxiliary supply. Additionally, the ground floor features a control room designed to accommodate secondary protection, monitoring, and control systems, along with DC and AC distribution panels. Currently, the substation is remotely monitored and controlled from the CDU Zagreb Control Center. Following the upgrade, it will retain its core functionality but incorporate state-of-the-art equipment and a new relay protection concept, ensuring enhanced reliability and operational efficiency.
The project leverages the expertise and resources of several companies within our group, including KONČAR – Switchgear, KONČAR – Instrument Transformers, KONČAR – Digital, KONČAR – Distribution and Special Transformers, KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics, and KONČAR – Institute of Electrical Engineering.
