First Japan contract for hydro power plants
KONČAR — Generators and motors made a huge breakthrough in the Asian market in mid-May 2021.
Following a two-year process of bidding and negotiating, KONČAR - Generators and Motors won its first ever contract in Japan. Scope of delivery under the contract includes design, manufacture and supervision of three generators assembly for two different small hydro power plants (SHPPs).
First stage of the project will be completed after the synchronous generator with nominal power of 5.2 MVA (240 min-1) in SHPP Shin Sakagami has been successfully commissioned, whereas the second stage of the project will be completed after the synchronous generator with nominal power of 5.2 MVA (240 min-1) and the asynchronous generator with nominal power of 0.546 MW (366 min-1) at SHPP Shin Utsubo have been commissioned.
This contract is the continuance of KONČAR’s successful collaboration with an Austrian turbine manufacturer, and over the following three years, the two companies should justify the trust placed in them by Japanese consultants. Because this is the first time Japanese investors have chosen a turbine manufacturer based in u Europe, KONČAR will not only represent itself, but will also act as a pioneer in opening the market for other European manufacturers in future.
