First of 40 next-generation trams rolls out for Zagreb
Building on the successful delivery of 142 trams for Zagreb and 14 for Liepāja, Latvia, our manufacturing facility has now rolled out the first of 40 new low-floor trams for Zagreb.
Arriving ahead of schedule, this cutting-edge vehicle integrates the latest advancements in technology, offering enhanced safety, passenger comfort, and eco-friendly operation.

The new tram is 20.8 meters long, with four wide doors and space for 115 passengers. It is designed for efficiency, accessibility, and superior passenger comfort. Fully compliant with all relevant international standards, it ensures top-tier safety, reliability, and performance. Its climate control system provides a comfortable ride, while cameras at every entrance enhance security. Integrated ramps offer seamless access for passengers with disabilities, reinforcing Zagreb’s commitment to inclusive public transport. Additional smart features include real-time video monitoring, USB charging ports for on-the-go convenience, and an advanced passenger tracking system that helps optimize transit operations.
Now at ZET’s depot following its arrival yesterday, the newly delivered tram is set to undergo extensive testing to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards before entering commercial service. Key evaluations will include calibration of the main control system, validation of the traction inverter, performance analysis of the braking system, and synchronization of braking functions with the onboard computer. Additionally, autonomous battery-powered operation will be tested under various conditions to assess system reliability. This rigorous testing process is crucial to verifying the tram’s efficiency, safety, and seamless integration into Zagreb’s public transport fleet.

Zagreb’s tram network continues to expand with a €38 million investment in 20 new low-floor trams, secured through a contract signed in June 2023. The delivery timeline stipulated that the first tram must arrive no later than 24 months from the contract signing, setting the deadline for June 2025, with the full batch expected by December 15, 2025. To ensure smooth integration, at least four trams will be delivered each month. This initiative is fully backed by European funding through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Further strengthening the city’s commitment to modern, efficient transport, a second contract - worth nearly €40 million - was signed in September 2024 for an additional 20 trams.
