KONČAR becomes a pioneer in the development of a cybersecure digitized power grid
The representatives of the certification company TÜV NORD presented KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc. with a certificate of conformity with the internationally recognized industry standard IEC 62443-2-4. KONČAR’s platform for the digitization of automated power systems – PROZA NET thus became the first system in the world to be certified for cybersecurity of critical infrastructures.
Mid last year, the Act on the cybersecurity of the key service operators and digital service providers came into force in Croatia. It was adopted as part of the implementation of an EU Directive from 2016, which provides measures for achieving a high level of overall security of network and information systems, which is particularly important for performing key social and economic activities, which include those in the energy field.
The cybersecurity of a power grid is a prerequisite for automation and the development of future smart cities, and the fact that KONČAR’s product is the first in the world to be certified for cybersecurity will enable the design of new digital solutions for the rapid development of the advanced power grid known as the Smart Grid.
PROZA NET is a system used to monitor and control facilities in the fields of power, gas, oil, industry, transport and water management. It has been fully developed by KONČAR-KET and continuously upgraded with new technological developments. This was recognized by one of the world’s leading certification companies, TÜV NORD. In order to get the certificate of conformity with the standard, the product had to pass a rigorous assessment of information security carried out by experts from TÜV Informationstechnik (TÜV-IT).
