About us
Established at the end of 2017 through the merger of three sister companies within KONČAR Group, we unite decades of expertise in the development of high-voltage switchgear, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, and transformer substations. This enduring legacy of innovation is built on a solid foundation of advanced materials, cutting-edge technologies, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. In May 2023, our expertise was further strengthened with the integration of KONČAR – Electric Devices Ltd., Dicmo, into our organization.
Our sustained focus on advancing medium-voltage switchgear and gas-insulated systems reflects our dedication to meeting evolving customer requirements and adapting to dynamic market trends. Each product is meticulously designed and rigorously tested to ensure compliance with both national and international standards, as verified by independent testing laboratories.
Manufacturing
Our core expertise lies in manufacturing power transmission and distribution equipment, with operations spanning two strategically located facilities. At our Zagreb-Borongaj site, we host our headquarters, research and development, technical division, logistics, and advanced production halls. These facilities specialize in the assembly of high- and medium-voltage switchgear, high-voltage systems, gas- and air-insulated medium-voltage systems for primary and secondary electrical distribution, and prefabricated transformer substations for secondary distribution.
Dicmo facility focuses on the assembly of air-insulated medium- and low-voltage switchgear, catering to the specific needs of power distribution, industrial applications, and shipbuilding. Both locations are equipped with state-of-the-art assembly lines and sophisticated testing stations, ensuring rigorous routine testing and full compliance with all prescribed standards and certifications.

History
The origins of switchgear production date back to 1921, with the founding of the company Elektra in Zagreb. In 1946, Elektra became part of RADE KONČAR enterprise, marking the beginning of its integration into a larger industrial legacy.
Since 1963, the design, development, production, and maintenance of high- and medium-voltage switchgear and related equipment for power transmission and distribution have been carried out at the Borongaj location, evolving through several organizational structures.
In 1991, medium-voltage switchgear production was assigned to KONČAR – Medium Voltage Apparatus, while high-voltage switchgear and system production was handled by KONČAR – High Voltage Switchgear.
The Sesvetski Kraljevec site, operational since 1961, became a hub for developing and producing medium- and low-voltage switchgear blocks and transformer substations under the company KONČAR – Switchgear.
These three companies emerged as prominent leaders in the Croatian power transmission and distribution equipment industry, earning widespread recognition and an extensive portfolio of references both within Croatia and on the global stage.
A pivotal transformation occurred in late 2017, when KONČAR – Medium Voltage Switchgear joint stock compnay was renamed KONČAR – Switchgear and merged with KONČAR – High Voltage Switchgear and KONČAR – Switchgear, Inc.
On December 31, 2020, the company expanded further by integrating KONČAR – Low Voltage Switches and Circuit Breakers Ltd., which became part of KONČAR – Switchgear, Inc.
In July 2021, the company underwent restructuring and was officially renamed KONČAR – Switchgear Ltd., for manufacturing.
In May 2023, KONČAR – Electric Devices Ltd., based at the Dicmo site, was integrated into the company's structure, further strengthening its capabilities.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of KONČAR Inc., the company continues to uphold its legacy of innovation, superior quality, and excellence in the field of power transmission and distribution systems.
