Revitalization of HPP Kuurna in Finland completed
At the end of June 2022, we completed the revitalization of the second generator at the Kuurna Hydroelectric Plant near Joensuu, Finland. The first generator was successfully commissioned in June 2021 following rigorous testing.
The project which includes revitalization and power output increase from 11 to 14 MVA kicked off in June 2019 with a wide scope of work: delivery of two new stators, one new rotor, pre-insulation of the rotor poles, new bearing shells, new brakes, special assembly devices, spare parts, rebabbitingof spare bearing segments, disassembly and assembly, testing and commissioning.
The Kuurna revitalization is part of our ongoing, successful partnership with Kuurnan Voima, the plant’s owner and a subsidiary of Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö Oy, the regional energy provider for North Karelia. In 2017, we revitalized the generator at the Puntarikoski HPP, and in 2020, we delivered a compact generator for the Puhos HPP.
Our presence in the Finnish market spans over two decades, during which we have delivered a total of 27 generators to twenty hydropower plants.
