“KONČAR D&ST for green leaves and clean air” on Sljeme

Forests are among the most intricate ecosystems in the world, and in Croatia, they cover nearly half of the land area. Managing these natural forests is a great national privilege and fortune, but also a challenge and responsibility. Striking a balance between economic development and forest conservation is the primary task of both professionals and businesses. Companies that care about their environmental impact and the community can set a tangible example in raising awareness about the need to preserve and protect forests.

With this in mind, at the end of 2020, we organized a volunteer green initiative with the motto "KONČAR D&ST for Green Leaves and Clean Air." This initiative, held in collaboration with Croatian Forests, aimed to support sustainable forest management, preserve forests facing climate change, protect forests, and enhance ecosystems.

Our dedicated volunteers planted 1,500 sessile oak (Quercus petraea) trees in the Zagreb Forestry area, within the Sljeme – Medvedgrad Forest Management Unit, located at the foot of Medvedgrad.

Studies indicate that an average tree reduces CO2 levels by 12 kg annually and produces sufficient oxygen for a family of four. By converting the negative impacts of human activities into positive outcomes, our 1,500 trees will absorb approximately 18,000 kg of CO2 and generate enough oxygen for about 1,500 families each year.

Until our next green endeavour, stay tuned and check out the impact we've already made.
