Cleaning of the Jankomir forest at the Sava embankment with Lil Cleaning Bears (Čisteći Medvjedići)
One misty Saturday morning, an enthusiastic team gathered in the Jankomir Forest at the Sava Embankment.
It’s hard to say who was more eager, us or the Lil Cleaning Bears (Čisteći Medvjedići), but their dedication certainly inspired us. These volunteer enthusiasts, nearly professionals, have conducted over 150 cleanup actions across Croatia. They even brought along Sep, the hardest-working dog among the Bears and the beariest among dogs, and our juniors eagerly joined in to help us clear the trash.
Instead of detailing the waste, we’ll let the photos illustrate what we found in the Jankomir Forest near Lučko. Altogether, we collected 110 bags of trash and approximately four tons of bulky waste, all of which was removed by the city sanitation department the same day. The feelings were mixed – a blend of modest joy and sorrow at witnessing such neglect.
To end on a high note, we trust that our efforts have contributed to a cleaner environment. The experience was incredible, educational, and above all, we hope to have inspired others to take action for the common good.
