CROSSBOW

CROSS BOrder management of variable renewable energies and storage units enabling a transnational Wholesale market

Full description:

The CROSSBOW project is a transmission system operators driven project, promoting shared use of resources to foster transmission networks cross-border management of variable renewable energies and storage units. The CROSSBOW project will enable higher penetration of clean energy sources, while reducing the operating costs of the network and raising the commercial viability of renewable sources and energy storage. The project aims to provide the transmission system operators with a higher level of flexibility and robustness, enable better control of cross-border balancing energy at interconnection points, raise the network observability, and support new market participants such as aggregators. The CROSSBOW project results will be deployed and evaluated in practice by eight transmission system operators in South Eastern Europe. In the project, KONČAR leads the development of a flagship energy storage management solution. This solution considers both large centralized storages such as pumped hydro, as well as distributed virtual storages composed of granular smaller-scale contributions, e.g. in batteries. KONČAR also provides technical support and integration in project pilot demonstrators.
