Revitalizing substation Županja 2
On July 30, 2024, we officially began work on the replacement of equipment at the 110/35/10(20) kV Županja 2 substation, marking the start of a €2 million investment commissioned by HEP – Operator of the Distribution System.
This crucial project is designed to enhance the reliability and resilience of one of the region’s key supply points, addressing the obsolescence of primary and secondary systems nearing the end of their operational lifespan.
The project scope includes the preparation of technical documentation, revitalization of primary equipment, installation of advanced secondary protection and control systems, and execution of electrical assembly and civil works, culminating in comprehensive testing and commissioning. In the 35 kV system, we will replace all circuit breakers, disconnectors, current and voltage transformers, and field wiring, ensuring compatibility with an upgraded secondary protection architecture.
The 10 kV system will undergo a complete overhaul, replacing primary and secondary equipment with modern, high-efficiency components. This includes the installation of 17 compact SF6 gas-insulated KSMA 24 switchgear units, paving the way for a seamless transition to a 20 kV operating voltage. These upgrades will significantly enhance the substation’s capacity to handle greater loads, ensuring a secure power supply for the city of Županja while establishing vital backup routes to Bošnjaci (via TS 35/20 kV Drenovci) and Štitar (via TS 35/10(20) kV Babina Greda).
The replacement at TS Županja 2 not only reinforces the reliability of the regional power grid but also prepares the infrastructure for future growth.
