New contract signed for generator revitalization in Finland

We have secured a new contract with Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö Oy (PKS) for the refurbishment of the generator at the Palokki HPP.

Located approximately 100 km from Joensuu in the Heinävesi region (Lake Lapinpesä) of eastern Finland, the generator has been in operation since 1961 with a capacity of 8 MVA.

The scope of work encompasses the complete refurbishment of the stator with a new housing, package, winding, and shaft, along with pole re-insulation, and an increase in power to 8.5 MVA. KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics is set to deliver an excitation regulator as part of the project. The contract is valued at nearly EUR 2.5 million.

New contract with Finnish company

This marks our third project with PKS, following the successful completion of the Puntarikoski Hydroelectric Plant works and the refurbishment of two units at the Kuurna Hydroelectric Plant. The Palokki project is scheduled for completion by late 2025.

During the contract signing, PKS CEO Tuure Aho expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing successful collaboration and conveyed a strong interest in pursuing additional joint projects. On our side, the contract was signed by Mario Đaković, Member of the Management Board, with the presence of President of the Board Đuro Tatalović.
