Hydro generator revitalization
We have a long history of successfully revitalizing hydro generators from various manufacturers, customizing our approach to fit the particular needs of each project.
A key area of our business is the revitalization and uprating of existing hydro generators. Our services cover a wide range of tasks, including measurements, on-site testing, detailed calculations, and the reconstruction of machines, regardless of the original manufacturer.
Following design optimization, we calculate the remaining service life of both individual components and the generator as a whole. This is followed by power output calculations for the post-revitalization/uprating phase, which informs whether to retain or modify existing parts, or produce new ones, to achieve the necessary performance of the hydro generator.
A standout example of a revitalization project featuring both a substantial power increase and technical enhancements is the Binga HPP in the Philippines. This project increased the capacity of each of the four hydro generators from 27.8 MVA to 41.2 MVA, representing a 48.2% rise, with a rated voltage of 13.8 kV and a rotational speed of 327.3 rpm. The primary scope of delivery encompassed the new stator core, winding, and rotor poles. The generators were successfully commissioned in 2013.
A key highlight among our many revitalization projects is the delivery of over 60 new stators to the Swedish and Finnish markets over the past 15 years.
