Digitalization of the flood protection system
The VEPAR project is a pivotal initiative designed to significantly improve flood risk management throughout the Republic of Croatia. Our expert team leads the project, serving as the principal contractor for major stakeholders including Croatian Waters and the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service.
This ambitious project encompasses the development of an advanced control and monitoring system (CMS) and the technological enhancement and digitalization of pumping stations. Additionally, it includes the modernization of existing hydrological stations and the construction of new ones at over 650 locations nationwide.

The newly implemented Flood protection control and monitoring system substantially enhances water management and flood risk mitigation across the network. Utilizing accurate and timely hydrological data, this system adeptly manages both regulation and protection water management facilities and critical pumping stations essential to flood protection strategy.
The system's design incorporates flexibility for future upgrades, facilitating the integration of emerging technologies and functionalities as required.
A pivotal element of this project is the innovative digital solution provided by the PROZA MARS software platform, which is instrumental in operating the flood protection system. Developed by our specialists, this solution enables precise monitoring of water levels at inlets and gates, and pumping units, while also efficiently monitoring energy consumption at pumping stations.
Exploiting the advanced capabilities of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), the PROZA MARS platform streamlines the management of smart cities and critical and urban infrastructure. It supports the automated reading, verification, and analysis of big data sets, offering advanced visualization tools and real-time alerts that ensure operational excellence.
This platform, a product of our proprietary research and development efforts, delivers precise, real-time insights into the current status of systems. Its open and modular architecture allows for customization to meet specific user needs, easy integration with existing systems, and independence from particular technologies or suppliers. This approach not only enhances system functionality but also significantly reduces implementation and operational costs.
The PROZA MARS platform supports a broad range of applications that improve various aspects of infrastructure management. These include remote meter reading for utilities such as electricity, water, and heat; loss detection and energy efficiency management; management of water, drainage, and flood protection systems; and environmental monitoring of factors such as noise, temperature, humidity, pressure, and air quality. Additionally, the platform plays a crucial role in managing smart public lighting systems.
