In September 2022, we completed the new Dispatch Centre for the public power utility company Elektroprivreda Hrvatske zajednice Hereceg Bosne (HZHB) based in Mostar.

The new Dispatch Centre enables monitoring and management of all plants in the power distribution system through the main centre in Mostar, as well as four regional centres in Grude, Livno, Novi Travnik and Orašje.

This complex project encompassed the implementation of a cutting-edge computer system at the dispatch centres and the installation of a digital automation system at all 110 kV, 35 kV, and 10 kV plants. In order to ensure efficient connectivity, the project envisaged complete design, system configuration, communication connection with the power plants and external systems as well as overall functional testing. The system is developed on cutting-edge proven technologies, such as the SDH system based on optical communication for digital radio networks for small and inaccessible sites, as well as a packet network of a mobile operator. In addition to equipping dispatch centres with computer equipment, the project included adapting all facilities in line with the customer-specific requirements.

Perfect coordination between the end-user and the contractor was necessary to successfully complete all the works at the facilities, prepare computer databases, and integrate them with the existing computer systems that Elektroprivreda HZHB uses to manage the distribution system, as well as with other connected energy system operators.

The project was realized in cooperation with the German consortium partner PSI AG, a renowned manufacturer of SCADA applications with an impressive record of achievements. We were tasked with the design and development of the technical solution and the complete implementation of an advanced SCADA system. We installed and commissioned digital automation systems at the facilities, and with the support of local partners, we developed and implemented an applicable and reliable solution for communication connection of all facilities with the central computer system.
